Junior Mountaineers
The Toowoomba Mountaineers Junior Representative Program plays a vital role in our performance pathway, supporting the growth and progression of young athletes from U12 through to senior representative levels. The program is structured to guide player and coach development in a consistent, intentional way, ensuring our community has clear opportunities to advance through regional, state, and national pathways.
Across the junior age groups (U12–U18), the SQJBC competition and the Queensland State Championships offer the highest level of competition in the state. These events are essential in preparing athletes for national-level tournaments such as the Australian Club Championships (U14) and Australian Junior Championships (U16–U20). The Mountaineers are committed to selecting athletes who can compete strongly at these levels, as well as those who demonstrate the potential to grow into high-level representative players.
Junior Mountaineer Contact Person - Ash Peters
TBA is pleased to introduce Ash Peters as our Junior Mountaineers Contact Person.
Ash will provide a central point of contact for Junior Mountaineers players, parents, coaches and team managers, helping families with general program information and directing enquiries to the appropriate person when required.

As we continue to strengthen the Junior Mountaineers program, having clear and consistent communication with our representative families is an important part of creating a well-organised and positive experience for everyone involved.

Ash is also a member of the TBA Management Committee and will help provide an important link between our Junior Mountaineers community, staff and the Association.
We encourage Junior Mountaineers families to contact Ash with any general questions or assistance they may need throughout the representative season.

The TBA Mountaineers uniform kit provides our representative players with a coordinated range for competition, training and warm-up.
The Mountaineers kit consists of:

Our uniform design brings together the identity of our Senior and Junior Mountaineers, creating a consistent look across the Toowoomba Basketball representative program and introducing the new TBA Mountaineers logo.
One Mountaineers Identity
The new branding brings together elements of the traditional Senior Mountaineers logo and the current Junior Mountaineers identity, giving our players one recognisable Mountaineers brand from junior representative basketball through to our senior teams.
Basketball Queensland is also introducing a new logo, which associations will be required to display on uniforms from February 2028. This provides TBA with the opportunity to coordinate the introduction of both the new BQ branding and our new Mountaineers identity.
Transitioning to the New Uniform
TBA is conscious of the cost of representative basketball for families and does not want players to replace perfectly serviceable uniforms unnecessarily.
For this reason, existing Mountaineers uniforms will continue to be used wherever possible, with the new uniform and branding introduced progressively.
Our aim is to complete the transition to the new Basketball Queensland and TBA Mountaineers logos in 2028, providing a practical and affordable changeover while establishing a strong, unified identity for the Mountaineers program.

Mountaineers uniform size try-ons is available by appointment only. Simply email Natasha on the above email address for an appointment and she will meet you at the uniform room on the ground floor of the stadium opposite the toilets. Natasha has order forms available in the uniform room.

Once your order has arrived, you will be notified that your uniform is ready for collection from the Uniform Room.

Fees & Payment
TBA is committed to keeping the cost of representative basketball as affordable and transparent as possible for our Mountaineers families.
​
Representative fees are based on the costs and charges passed on to TBA by Basketball Queensland for participation in the SQJBC season and State Championships. TBA does not seek to make a profit from these fees.
​
As a guide, representative fees generally sit at approximately $1,600 per player, excluding uniforms. However, the amount may vary from season to season depending on the fees and charges set by Basketball Queensland.
Once Basketball Queensland’s costs for the season have been confirmed, TBA will calculate the final representative fee and communicate this to families prior to the commencement of the season.

Trialing with the Neers
Toowoomba Mountaineer representative program compete in the highest level of junior and youth aged based basketball competition in Queensland including Southern Queensland Junior Basketball Competition (SQJBC) and State Championships.
Eligibility
If considering seeking selection to a representative team, please ensure you (your child) meets the Selection Eligibility criteria for the Mountaineers Representative Team program. Players MUST be financial members of Toowoomba Basketball Association prior to trialing.
For players seeking to transfer to Mountaineers from another association, you MUST complete a transfer form prior to trials. Transfer Request form below.

WHAT TO BRING

Basketball (named), correct size for your age group

To avoid dust/water on our courts, please Do Not wear your basketball shoes from outside the stadium (change into them once in the stadium).
WHAT TO EXPECT

Trails are conducted by a panel of 3 coaches with at least one Association level (level 2) coach included

There are three trial days. Players are required to attend all three trial dates

You will be allocated a number so we know who you are
-
We expect you will be on time and ready to warm up
